Updates

What's changed recently on 81Sudoku.

Your daily puzzle is ready the moment you arrive

Landing on the site now drops you straight into today's Daily Challenge instead of asking you to pick something first - tap New Game any time you'd rather choose a difficulty or practice a specific technique instead.

A big redesign: smarter marks, full keyboard play, a new desktop layout

Marks now use a simple click-cycle (off → plain → colored) instead of arming a tool first. The desktop view got a full 3-column layout with dedicated Values/Marks panels, and playing entirely from the keyboard is now genuinely possible - arrow keys, WASD, a "go to cell" shortcut, and dedicated keys for each pencil color. There's also just one active game at a time now, so New Game and resuming always do exactly what you'd expect.

Streaks, solve history, and a technique library to learn from

Daily Challenge streaks are now timezone-aware and your solve history is viewable on the stats page. Every technique the Practice picker can serve - Pointing Pairs through X-Wing, Swordfish, and Forcing Chains - now has its own explainer page with a worked example, linked directly from hints and the practice picker.

The game is now the front page

81sudoku.com now drops you straight into a puzzle instead of a marketing page. This Updates page and the About page carry the feature list and FAQ that used to live on the homepage.

Now in Beta, with a lot more under the hood

Tiered hints that name the real technique (Naked Single through X-Wing and XY-Wing), an Always-On guided-learning mode, daily challenges with streaks, undo/redo, and more.

Original Alpha launch

The original Alpha version went online - early and rough around the edges, but fully playable.
